This blog has been set up by Acuity Training to host it's SPSS content. Acuity Training has been offering SPSS training since 2006 and is one of the UK's leading providers of SPSS training.   Since 2006 it has trained hundreds of people to use SPSS and has answered hundreds of questions on SPSS and statistics in that time.

Our most popular SPSS course our beginners course (See here for details). Over two days we introduce delegates to the majority of the functionality that SPSS offers and to give them plenty of chances to practice the techniques themselves. Our aim is to ensure that everyone leaving our introductory course is a relaxed and confident user of SPSS. Obviously you can't learn all of SPSS in two days and we do offer more advanced training as well as bespoke training courses where people have very specific requirements that they would like to focus on. Please get in touch with us if you would like to know more. Acuity Training also offers a wide variety of training courses including excel training, spss training and adobe training. We provide training from our centres in London, Guildford and Manchester. We also provide training at our customers' offices frequently.

Statistical Package for Social Sciences ('SPSS') is a powerful suite of data analytics, reporting and modelling software. It is the data analytics software package of choice for people who need to analyse large amounts of quantitative data and is used as standard by a wide range of users who need to quickly and accurately carry out statistical analysis of that data. It has a very broad range of applications from the relatively simple like calculating frequencies and creating lists and charts through to the far more advanced like variance analysis, multivariate statistical analysis and  cluster analysis. It can also be used to quickly and simply build predictive models.

SPSS was originally developed by a team of 3 PhD students at the University of Chicago in the late 60's for use with mainframe computers and punch cards. Luckily it is now available for PCs, Macs and Linux based computers and uses an intuit Java based GUI. Version 21 was released in August 2012, with Version 22 being expected to be released in Summer 2013.
